May 22, 2009. Augusta. Grassroots conservationists opposed to Governor Baldacci's Sears Island industrial port plan demonstrated outside an awards ceremony in the Governor's Mansion held to reward moderate environmentalists Sierra Club, Islesboro Islands Land Trust, Maine Coast Heritage Trust and others for capitulating to Maine DOT, which hopes to have a large container port built on the 940 acre wild island. Ron Huber used a power bullhorn to be sure that the Governor and his celebrants inside the governor's mansion heard themselves denounced and their policies dissected and rejected. Listen here and here to 5 minute audio clips of Huber's harangues against the capitulators echoing off the State Capitol building in Augusta.
