Fishing Grounds of the Gulf of Maine
Fishing Rip (of Nantucket Shoals) is an elongate bank lying 29 miles SE. from Sankaty Head Light. It is 10 miles long in a NE and SW direction and about 1 ½ miles wide, having depths of from 4 3/4 to 6% fathoms. Soundings about it are from 13 to 23 fathoms over coarse gravel, fine sand, and shells. The seasons and the species are as on the Great Rip.
