Dear friends and Board members of the Penobscot Bay Alliance
This is my notice of resignation from the Board of Directors of the
Penobscot Bay Alliance.
From my perspective, the Alliance's leadership has strayed too far from the
group's mission. The originating purpose of this alliance - the banding
together of common interests, personal, professional and organizational,
to actively protect, restore and steward Penobscot Bay's natural resources -
has been exchanged for a take-no-positions, no-legal-standing,
middle-of-the-road soft-soap educational mission.
In combination with a membership/fundraising drive of questionable purpose
and application, and what I perceive as a bad faith reneging of agreements
regarding the use and content of the www.penbay.org website, Penobscot Bay
Alliance is rather hampering than helping grassroots and community efforts
to protect, restore and steward Penobscot Bay.
I will be glad to elaborate on all or any of the above, and part company
with the fond hope that the Penobscot Bay Alliance become a strong force for
the betterment of Penobscot Bay and its natural and human users.
