Ron Huber's 1990s Sears island campaign diaries (93-95)


In the 1990's conservationists and four federal agencies ultimately frustrated an effort by the state of Maine and port supporters to build a cargo port on Sears Island.

Here are daily notes written by Ron Huber of then-organization Coastal Waters Project, detailing the day to day intrigues, joys, strategems and struggles of that successful effort to block a port on Sears Island.

These are unedited. There are many gaps. Irrelevant topics. The writing quality is uneven, Huber's opinions possibly upsetting to some Sears Island veterans; his thinking questionable. But so it went, to the best of his recollections....
