Back to Maine State Prison Watch.
In September of last year, Maine Governor John Baldacci ordered Maine state prison inmate activist and gadfly Deane Brown to be exiled to a high security state prison in Baltimore, in violation of both civil rights law and the Maine and U.S. Constitutions. As of July 17, 2007 Brown, who was sentenced to 59 years for burglary in 1995, remains held at the Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center. He is denied use of a telephone for undefined "security reasons" Efforts to bring Deane home from exile continue. ========================================================================
