The Alamo Theater in Bucksport Maine hosted on 9/14/09 a public forum on the future of Sears Island following the Sears Island Planning Initiative's latest venture: a consensus driven, joint-use planning process. The panel consisted of Senator Dennis Damon, Fairplay for Sears Island-er Peter taber, Friends of Sears Island president Jim Freeman MDOT Commissioner David Cole and Penobscot Bay Watch Ron Huber.

Over the past five years those running that process consistently excluded from its deliberations those seeking to keep the entire island in its natural state! It thus arrived at an inevitable .

The division between the two sides was apparent Monday night as panelists discussed — and in some cases, defended — their positions.
