Ron Huber, Penobscot Bay Watch, listening to Jim Freeman ask him why he did not join Cole's Joint Use plan Project. [Because Huber mistakenly trusted Freeman and the Maine chapter of the Sierra Club to continue defending the island from anything that would stimulate port proposals. They did the exact opposite!] Huber held that the unique marine habitat and water quality environment of the shoals alongside Sears Island are ecological chokepoints that are not replaceable and must not be dredged away, as any port configuration on Sears Island inevitably would do.
